Statistics : Performance in Licensure Examination

            As can be gleaned  in the Comparative Table of Passing Percentage in the Licensure Examinations from CY 1997 - 2001 (By Discipline in Alphabetical Order), the trend of passing rate differs in the 33 professional fields.  The average passing percentage across the various fields for the past five (5) years is 44.53%.  But, we can also see the gradual improvement of the performance of graduates in the licensure examination from CY 1997 to CY 2001.  It shows from CY 1997 an average rate increase from 42.15% to 42.58% in CY 1998; it went up to 44.39% in CY 1999.  in CY 2000 the average rate was 45.58%; and last year CY 2001, it went up again to 47.97% (or 48%).

            The highest average passing percentage shows in CY 2001 of 91% for Geology, followed by Mining Engineering (87%).  But, for Medicine profession, matrix shows a gradual decrease from CY 1997 with 71%  to 62% in CY 2001.

            Among the professional fields, whose data from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) are not yet available are: Teacher Education (Elementary and Secondary), Library Science, Marine Engineering (4th Engr.), Marine Transportation (3rd Mate) and Medical Technology.  Also, for Law, no data was available from the Supreme Court of the Philippines.
